Supporting the Office of the President
"We pray for his success to bring back prosperity, peace and strength to this country," were the words of President Uchtdorf after attending the national prayer service today at the National Cathedral. He and M. Russell Ballard remarked on their experience this morning on KSL news. I was very impressed with what the brethren had to say.
I know that I was quite outspoken in my opinions during the presidential campaign but I have faith in this country and even more I have faith in God. I am thankful for a conversation with Kent's uncle a few years ago when the nation was so unhappy with Bush. He made the comment that whether or not you agree with the president you support him and give him the respect that the office deserves. I felt he was right and I do support our new president. I will do my best to see what he is doing right rather than look for all the he does wrong.
Overall whomever claims the office of the presidency will not matter to me. I will do my best to vote for the person I believe is best, but I leave the rest to God. I know that he will guide and direct the members of our government. They may not always listen, but that is not because they are bad people, but rather because they are human. We all are! I will also do my part to pray for these men and women to make wise choices for our country. I was inspired as I watched the people who were moved by the prayers of the preachers . I know this country is still full of good people and I pray that we may come together and turn our hearts to God again!

I am glad that you are feeling better than I am about this situation! I did have a little fun watching him flub his oath! I will say that the arrangement of Simple Gifts is the best I have ever heard!
Great post Marlies, I think this is good for all of to remember. He may not be everyone's first pick, but he is our president now and we will not accomplish any thing by working against each other.
That's cool. I am very hopeful that things will smooth out with Pres. O'bama. It's wonderful to know that our leaders are praying for him too.
how good of you, marlies! i can only hope to do the same. thanks for your good example!
I obviously hold a much different opinion of politics than most viewers of your blog, but I'm stoked for the changes that lay ahead of us. I couldn't agree with you more about supporting our leaders. And just as I have supported our past presidents, I shall suppport President Obama. I hope that as citizens (We The People) we shall decide the fate of this country and leave the nasty comments and negative thinking to those who couldn't find anything better to do with their time.
I am not the kind of person that likes to read such a huge post, but so far that I saw, I do also, hope that Barack Obama will do good for The United States of America.
I agree with what you said that we need to support our President no matter who he is. You said it so good.
