Today was the last birthday Kent will ever have...at least if he ages the way my father did. All growing up when you would ask my dad how old he was on his birthday he would give you a cheesy smile and say, "I'm 29 and some months!" Well today Kent turned 29 so I guess from now on he will only be adding months.
For about a week now I have been plotting and planning for Kent's surprise birthday party last night. A few years ago Kent threatened me not to even think to do a party for his thirtieth birthday so I decided then that if I was going to do one 29 would be the year. It was great we went out to dinner at Chinese Gourmet and stopped to shop at Eddie Bauer afterword. When we got home everyone was here waiting (my neighbor Melissa let everyone in) and hiding in the kitchen and bathroom, etc. When Kent and I walked in Cody was laying on the couch with blankets on him. He sat up and it didn't seem to phase Kent. Then a moment later everyone jumped out and yelled surprise. I could tell he was surprised because he kept inviting everyone to sit down and make themselves at home. It was all he could say for his loss of words.
We ate cake and ice cream and visited for a bit. There were some people who had to take off early and as we found ourselves less crowded we decided to play a few rounds of Family Feud. It was a lot of fun. I felt really good to have so many of our friends show up. I counted 20 total friends who showed up. That number includes our friends and some of the kids who came. It was really a lot of fun to have so many friends come and celebrate Kent's birthday with us. Thanks to all of you who have come and shared your time with us!
It didn't take long before Kent and Braxton were both tuckered out.
(I took this pic the other night...when I checked on my little boy he didn't look so little!)

Great pictures! Thank you for inviting us, we had a great time with you guys. In fact, we need to have game night more often.
Happy Birthday, Kent! Sorry we couldn't make it, but I was taking some yw and my family and meeting a bunch of poeple at the Utah gymnastics meet. It was fun, but I think I would have rather been at the party!
Hey you. Thanks for the invite. We will be coming home on Sat. the 31st of Jan if that is the correct date for sat. I am not sure the time and things. We will have to see. But thanks you for the invite.
I do believe that having a 29th birthday party was a brilliant idea given the fact that you were forbidden to throw a party for him next year! Good job with keeping it a surprise!
Happy Birthday Kent! Isn't it kind of sad to see your little boy looking like a big kid? He really does look way to old in that picture.
