New Year's Resolutions!

So I thought as I look ahead at this new year I should look back again at my goals from last year. Those goals were...
*Keep up visit teaching monthly
*Attend the temple at least 12 times this year (makes monthly sound pretty pathetic this way)
*Read scriptures every day and study 15 min at a time for three times a week.
*Stay 100% on top of paying tithing!!! (This one is a must)
*Exercise at LEAST 3 times a week for 30 min. or more.
*Keep a rolling list of gratitude's DAILY for mental health.
*Make sure and have happy play time with Braxton each day

I did a good job visit teaching, reading scriptures, paying tithing, exercising, and listing gratitude's. The goals that I struggled with I think I may have forgotten were goals. I didn't do so well on attending the temple. I did ok but not as well as I'd like. I totally forgot that I had set a goal to play with Braxton and to be honest that was probably the most important goal.

On the other hand last year I wrote, "I pray that 2008 finds me happiness and growth as well as mentally, physically, and spiritually strong. I pray that I can find positive things to focus on in my life and have better perspective in dealing with my struggles." I indeed feel that this desire sums up my year of 2008. It seems that when you do write down what you want you get it. So moving on to 2009. My goals are...

*Enjoy play time with Braxton at least 4 times a week
*Work on praying at least daily and making my prayers more meaningful
*Keep up visit teaching monthly again
*Attend the temple at least 9 times this year and track it in my gratitude journal.
*Read the entire Doctrine and Covenants with the Sunday School lessons this year.
*Study the gospel daily
*Stay on top of paying tithing
*Exercise 5 times a week for 30 min. or more.
*Lose 15 lbs or more
*Get on track with a financial plan and follow it
*Keep a rolling list of gratitude's DAILY for mental health.
*Find ways to help out others daily with a great attitude (even if it is my family)
*Read 6 books this year. (good sized books that is)

In all of this I need to remember that breaking a resolution doesn't mean there no reason to try. We should always keep working to accomplish our goals. I hope that 2009 brings me more enlightenment as well as more physical, mental, and spiritual strength. I hope that I can find joy and love in every day and that if I can't find it anywhere else I can find that joy and love within myself. I wish this for anyone who wants it! Happy New Year!

So true! We could easily set small goals that would easily be met. If we set huge goals and then achieve 75% of that goal, does that mean it's a failure. No WAY! That 75% is probably way more than what would happen without the big goal. Does that make sense? I can't put it into words very well right now!

I'm so glad that you posted on your New Years "goals". I have to call them goals because if I refer to them as resolutions, I'll never accomplish them. I think I may just have to copy you on the idea. Brilliant.
