The slow...er days of January in 2022

Marshal's First
Season of Basketball
Marshal was my first kid to decide he wanted to try basketball and he has really enjoyed it. He played with a couple of friends from his class at school, Gaige and Jared (not pictured). As with all sports so far, he's a pretty good little basketball player.

Red Rocks Gymnastics
Cort and I enjoyed the gymnastics meet against Oklahoma and
Kent and I enjoyed the meet against Arizona later in the month.

Just starting back to meets after a lot of Covid interruptions.
The arena is still a little sparse.

Favorite Cowboy Day
When you get to the point in life where you don't care for b-day's your wife and kids decide to make up a new holiday. We now celebrate Favorite Cowboy Day on the 24th. :)

Life in January
Top Left: Kent seems to think that an important food storage item is ice cream. I mean the world may be ending but at least we have Tillamook ice cream. At least he bought it on sale. lol Left Middle: We decided our Mosaic Mysteries puzzle needed to have a Valentine's Day theme. Bottom Middle: We decorated these cute jars for Valentine's Day. I'm starting to enjoy more time to make crafts. Top Middle & Top Right & Center & Bottom Left & Bottom Right: The kids and I enjoying some fun Facebook filters.

Top Left: We went on a cold dark winter walk and say this as we walked past Hickman's house. Right after we heard a good creepy horror film scream. I look forward to seeing their movie. Top Middle: Playing with my purple extentions.Top Right: Great quote by Kirk Cameron. Left Middle: I love it when Kent sleep talks. Bottom Middle: Turns out this lego guy means that Cort hasn't missed a day of school this year. It's an award that seems interesting in a year following a pandemic. lol Right Middle: Marshal enjoyed going to Jared's party with a bunch of friends from his class. Bottom Left: Laura, Syrina and Kristen and I got together and painted some Valentine's paintings. It was a lot of fun and I like how it turned out! Bottom Right:Another shot of my purple extentions.

Top Left & Top Right: When I came to work and saw that the desks had moved I was so excited...but we still haven't moved so who knows. lol Middle Photos and Two Bottom Right: I found this "Scouring stick" at Lowe's and decided to give it a try. It has cleaned my bathroom tiles excellently! I love it! Top Middle & Bottom Left: Kent and I had to redo the bathroom and the new floor is not only even more beautiful but it is truly a miracle from God. I prayed that as we refinished the floor we would find a good floor at a price we could afford. We took forever to decide on which floor we wanted. When we were finally ready to purchase the guy who was working (we were disappointed the guy we had worked with before wasn't working) heard how little flooring we needed and encouraged us to the back of the warehouse in the discount section. Kent and I were a little annoyed, but we decided to see if he could save us some money in that mess. We grabbed the piece we liked and tried to find a match to it. We kept finding things we liked but not enough boxes of the product. We finally landed on this flooring. I liked it, but I still wasn't certain it was what I wanted. It sounded like it was going to be a substancial discount though. When the shop was closing and we were loaded up we went to pay and his debit card machine wouldn't work. He asked if we had any cash and as I recall the total had been about $60 (from about the $300 we figured it would cost us). When we said we only had $40 he told us he'd take it. How much more beautiful this floor looks knowing that it is a blessing and answered prayer from God!

Top Left: I loved this quote by Sister Holland. Left Middle: Marshal cracks me up. His mind is always thinking and making connections. Center: This Meme reminded me of Erik and Levi and Aaron. Other Memes: We played a spirit animal game on Facebook and decided that this game did not like me. I should have stayed with the mouse on the toy horse that I got first. Kent didn't do too bad though.

Top Left & Top Right & Bottom Left: These are all poems that Braxton wrote. I thought he was a pretty good poet so I asked him if I could post them to my Blog. With a little hesitation he did say yes. Left: I have no idea what reminded me of it but I took this photo to ask my family who remembered playing, "This is a Spoon" at Grandma Holdaway's House. Left Middle: This is the kind of door mat I need. lol Middle: Kent took a quiz online and send the results to me. I circled the best part and sent it back to him! 💖 Right Middle: This is my sock drawer that I took a photo of. I really do love my life neat and organized even if I am not always good at it. Right: Braxton had a health assignment and in the assignment it asked him questions that showed what was important to him in a spouse or a partner. I thought it was interesting so I asked if I could post this as well. Bottom Right: This meme made me laugh because sometimes I think these are Braxton's favorite colors. lol

Albuquerque Featuring Arches & Chaco Canyon December 2021-2022

 Arches in Winter
We decided to go to Arches for Christmas break
and it was such a different experience to be there in the snow.
Top Left: The boys were all watching the crow in the tree and it was funny to see them line up to watch it. Top Right: Cort climbing a hill. Two Left Middle: This was the crow they were watching. Two Right Middle: Balanced Rock and other rock formations at the front of the park. Bottom Left & Bottom Left Middle: Marshal longing to climb the fin in front of him. This kid always wants to take on the next challenge. Bottom Right: Sheep Rock

Lots of photos of my boys and beautiful winter scenery!

"Winter forms our character and brings out our best."
-Tom Allen

It was fun to see Landscape Arch. We love exploring Arches National Park!

It was a slippery walk up these snowy fins.

I believe this arch is Double O Arch.

As we walked up the slippery fin we found a couple of young adults from Iowa who decided to stick with us because we knew the way. I had no idea how much of a blessing it would be to have them with us. They were from Union County, Iowa and the one in the middle bottom photo was named Matt and the other on the bottom right was named Clayton. Because of the help they gave us in climbing difficult areas, they will always be angels in my eyes. I wish I had better photos of them!

“Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments,
embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.”
-John Boswell

More Double O Arch

Double O and Dark Angel

The top left photo shows how narrow the fin we were walking on was.
It was a interesting winter hike which I worked to trust our boys would have sure footing.
The arches in this photo are called Partition Arch.

This very cool arch is called Navajo Arch. It is one of my favorite!

More fun rock formations, including Sheep Rock, The Three Gossips, and another shot of Landscape Arch and other arches and rock formations.

The trail back down was so icy because of all the people who had hiked on the snow. I lost my balance and nearly fell but was able to avoid falling by sliding on the ice for a few feet.

Road Trippin'
As we left for Moab we had a snow squall warning. You can see the clouds surrounding the mountains. We did just fine on the way there, but it did make me nervous. I loved the meme on the left and I enjoyed the two signs I found in the gas station. I took a selfie to show off my wind burn that I got. I thought it was a sunburn, but it was gone the next day.

I loved these scenes along the drive to New Mexico!

We also had some beautiful skies!

While we were getting fuel, Marshal washed the windows for us.
We couldn't help but leave them after all his hard work!

"He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer
will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter."
-John Burroughs

My cute boys in the back seat and Shiprock in the distance.

Chaco Canyon
I had no idea how cool Chaco Canyon would be when Kent suggested it. I figured we'd seen enough Indian ruins, but I decided to induldge him and I am so glad that we did. This is by far my favorite Indian Ruin area I have seen!

Interesting thought, “No Statue of Liberty ever greeted our arrival in this country...
we did not, in fact, come to the United States at all. The United States came to us.”
― Luis Valdez

While I really liked this place it was also very cold!

“I have learned that the point of life's walk is not where or how far I move my feet
but how I am moved in my heart.”
-Anasazi Foundation, The Seven Paths: Changing One's Way of Walking in the World

It was so cool to have this Osprey fly over while we were there.

We had beautiful skies as we left the park!

I'm amazed at how beautiful the desert can be!

Time With Family
We loved getting to spend time with Liesel, Jonathan, Maddison and Michelle.

These girls couldn't be cuter! Of course I love all these photos, but I have to share that the bottom right photo is Rachel getting made because Liesel didn't leave Rachel's spaghetti long. lol

We enjoyed watching the first of the Rose Bowl together since our
Utah Utes were playing Jonathan and Liesel's Ohio Buckeye's!

I loved the photos of my nieces and Levi in Liesel's scrapbook.
I also loved the beautiful sunset out Liesel's back window as we were leaving New Mexico.

Petroglyphs
We had fun exploring the petroglyphs in Albuquerque.

Beautiful area!

Such cute boys!

Oops! I caught Liesel in my panorama. lol

Beautiful evening

Old Town and Route 66
This might be my favorite place in Albuquerque. It's such a fun street!

Unfortunately, the church was closed today, but how fun to find a rainbow!

Here we were getting our "kicks" on Route 66.

Heading Home...
We had some great skies on the way home.

We even were able to listen to the rest of the game on the radio. The night time temperatures were COLD! It was so cold that it froze my pillow which did not make me happy when I was tired and wanted to come in and sleep at 3 AM. I did however get a kick out of the party bus. Guess it was time for a bachelor party. lol
