Northern Lights, The Big Apple, and Graduation in May 2024

Graduation Announcement
Photos
This month, Braxton graduated. I was able to take his photos at Oquirrh Lake, Gardner Village, and the Jordan River Temple. This is his announcement.

Some of the photos that didn't make the cut.

So proud of him!

More photos.

Northern Lights
We were lucky to see the northern lights at Stansbury Island...

...I never thought I'd get to check off this bucket list item here at home...

...no I'm hopeful to see the dancing and color with my naked eye!

These are the factors that determine how strong the lights are.

New York Trip
Architecture and Lights
There was so much to see in New York.
I was grateful to go on this Choir Tour with Braxton.

The lights looked amazing with the fog in the city!

Broadway and the Big Guy
Trump definitely has a NYC presence.
Back to the Future and The Outsiders were both amazing!

Central Park
Central Park was a breath of fresh air!

We enjoyed Belvedere Castle, the Imagine Mosaic at Terrace Drive, Cherry Hill Fountain, the Tractors in Central Park, and the Central Park Turtle Pond.

More fun at the Belvedere Castle and beautiful flowers.

Nature
One of my favorite places in New York was the High Line.
I loved seeing so much greenery in the city!

Braxton and I in front of the lion from the New York Public Library (Founded by John Jacob Astor)... World artwork... A woman playing what I believe is an Erhu... Brooklyn Bridge and the locks on the rails...More photos with the Library.

The Brooklyn Bridge and the view from the back of the Staten Island Ferry.

Charging Bull at Bowling Green and Staten Island Ferry

Bringing the ferry in

Wall Street and the Memorial at the Site of the Twin Towers.

9/11 Memorial

A quiet street in Chinatown, likely Doyers St...Rockefeller Plaza...The Chrismas Tree spot at Rockefeller Plaza...The Oculus...Cool statues...and Survivor Tree.

Saks on Fifth Avenue...Park Avenue...The cemetery from Person of Interest...Grand Central Station...and another cool statue.

Signs of Our Times
Lots of signs of the world we live in.

Small Groups

Stores
We enjoyed some fun stores. The Lego Store, The Disney Store, M&M store, and
FAO Schwarz were some of our favorite stores to visit in New York.

THE MET
The Met was definitely a fascinating museum to visit, and I never even saw it all...

...by the time we finished, my legs were so tired...

...the bottom pictures were an ancient Israel temple. That was cool to see!

The Summit
The Summit at Vanderbilt One was 100% worth it. Mirror rooms, levity rooms, and seeing the city from the tallest skyscraper in New York City and the 14th tallest skyscraper in the world.
It was such a treat!

Misc
We arrived in a rainy New York City, which made for a different experience...Lots of busy people were moving through the streets of the city... We also made it there during Fleet Week, so there were a lot of Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen around...and I chuckled when we came into town, and I saw a law office for Anne Landers.

Emergency Videos in the city

Military Vessels...Doyers St., I believe, was a quiet little street in the busy city, an interesting statue... I had to take a photo of Cortland St. for Cort... 'Essen was a nice and tasty little place we ate in the city.

It's fun just to people-watch in the city.

Some fun, amazing, and inspiring artwork in the city
...plus Braxton did a great job of navigating the city. I was very impressed with his spatial abilities!

This man said his therapist asked him to get out of his comfort zone, and this was his way to do it. Pretty amazing performance on the Subway!

Just a few steps and a short distance... Just a few flights of stairs... Braxton was on the 18th floor, and I was on the 24th. When the elevators weren't working, we ended up dragging my huge suitcase down 24 flights of stairs... I thought the saying on the Comcast Building was cool... this hotel, close to our hotel, looks like a nice hotel... Cool structures in Vanderbilt One... O'Donoghue's Bar, which reminded me of the movie Coyote Ugly

One of my favorite things was the Subway performances!

Cool windows... more steps, and distance, and flights climbed
... we made it through chaperoning and back to Salt Lake City!

The Subways were just like the movies!

Awards
My boys are amazing! Braxton graduated with honors... and Marshal won a $1000 scholarship through computer programs he participated in through the district. The award came from the Road to Success.

Braxton Graduation
We are so proud of Braxton for all his hard work!

Great graduation day!

Braxton also graduated from seminary!

Life in May
The kids had a good time with Tyson and their cousins (Cameron Holdaway's kids)... snow in May?... Kent and I are out running errands... Braxton and Cort did the stake run to prep for Trek next month.

Chalk Drawings... two hundred days of Spanish on Duolingo... Marshal is enjoying a game of Flag Football... And I am still working on making fitness progress!

More Flag Football... Election enthusiasm... Marshal found a great rock... Cort and Kent are battling it out, all in fun, of course... Marshal is having fun!

A lesson about focusing on Christ. No matter what our question, if we focus on Christ, we will not be distracted from what is truly important!
