A New Year With New Possibilities! January 2023

The New Year's...Let it Snow,
Let it Snow, Let it Snow...
Storm!
With our welcome to 2023 we were given a ton of snow. The kind of snow that kept some people from being able to come to church and required shovels and digging cars out to help other people leave after church. Kent was helping people dig out and didn't make it to church. He even helped a snow plow get unstuck. Welcome to 2023!

Nothing like a video of my husband being his best self. Just don't
tell him I caught him or posted how great her is! lol

Snow on the lights sure does make things beautiful.

I love watching my strong and independent man help others!

Young Women's Birthday Party
& Ancestor Dish Activity
We had a fun birthday party activity with the young women! We played musical chairs, pop the balloon, pin the tail on the donkey and wore party hats. I love these girls and these leaders!

We decided to have what we called an ancestor dish activity. Everyone brought a dish representing their ancestors and we shared ancestor stories. I took Peco Flakes in honor of Grandma Holdaway. It was a really fun evening despite the fact that I was in charge and had lost my voice all the way down to a slight whisper. Other than that, it went really well! And we did the find relatives around you feature on the family search app and found out that I am 8th cousins once removed with Luke Hickman (the new bishop) and 7th cousins twice removed with my cute Young Woman, Alli Ferre.

Life in January
Top Left & Top Middle: Kent and I enjoyed dinner out to Salsa Leedos! Top Right: You always have to document the good hair days with a selfie. lol Bottom Left: Cort is getting a little too close for comfort. lol The kid just turned 12! 😳 Bottom Middle: Sometimes the boys don't appreciate how lucky they are that Kent will sit down and help them with their homework. Hopefully one day they will look back and appreciate the effort and time he gave them. Bottom Right: Marshal got a New Testament from the primary. He was asked to bring it to church each week so he made a note and placed it on the garage door so he wouldn't forget. lol

Top Left: You gotta love it when your cousin and friends are sending good vibes for your team! Top Middle: Go Utes! It's Red Rocks time! Top Right & Bottom Middle: One of the weirdest meets of my life. We were competing against LSU and one of their gymnasts, Livvy Dunne brought a social media following to the meet. Apparently as of 2022, she was the highest-valued women’s college athlete. A bunch of young men were chanting her name even though she was injured and couldn't compete. In addition to that they were lined up outside the arena waiting for her after the meet. I'm glad I'm not Livvy Dunne! Yikes! Bottom Left: I have a love/hate relationship with my new app BeReal. I feel like no one comments and all it is for is posting the one photo a day, BUT...when I get fun photos like this because of the app I do enjoy the inspiration to take an impromptu photo! Center: Pretty good when you get to take almost 9 turns during Quirkle before you have to allow someone else to play. Bottom Right: New hair at the gymnastics meet! lol

Top Left & Top Middle: Fun new Valentine's decorations! Bottom Left Middle: It was a really cool experience going to the temple this month and have the opportunity to seal two sisters to their parents! I even physically wrote about it in my paper journal. Bottom and Right Photos: My boys were encouraged to try out for the musical Beauty and the Beast. While they didn't make the cast, I was really proud of them for doing something new and being brave enough to try out! It was a good learning experience!

Top Middle: I started reading the book The Anatomy of Peace from The Arbinger Institute and was surprised when I saw Corvallis, Oregon show up in the book. Bottom Left: Marshal and Greyson crack me up sometimes! Top Left & Top Right & Bottom Middle& Bottom Right: Sometimes miracles look more like problems. We had some neighbors move in and after meeting other neighbors who haven't seemed to care to know us we slacked on making introductions with these new neighbors. One day while running to Smith's I found that after being there my bumper had a dent (I'm actually not sure when I got it). When we asked Smith's to look into it they said they didn't see anything. Kent thankfully was able to push the dent back out without much trouble. Because of the dent, Kent was outside putting the bumper back on when our new neighbors were worried about a late bus that hadn't dropped their kids off yet. The family is from The Sudan and they don't really speak English, but through the use of technology Kent was able to help them and communicated that their kids were on the bus that was just late getting home. Because of the difficult ordeal we decided to make cookies and take them over to them. They were so kind to invite us in and welcome us to sit down at their table. A few days later they came over with this full box of candy bars. I believe if it hadn't been for the dented bumper we wouldn't have been there to be of help to them. I'm thankful we were able to meet them. They seem like a very nice family!

Top Left: Someone shared this photo of my Grandma and Grandpa Rogers and when I saw it, it became an immediate treasure! Top Right & Bottom Left: Another good hair day! Bottom Left Middle & Bottom Right Middle: My old license versus my new one. I was much more ready for a permanent photograph on the last license. Such a bummer. Center Right: Our section at the gymnastics meet was given these Minky Couture scarfs. I LOVE free gifts at gymnastics! Bottom Right: I love watching Marshal's interests develop.

Cort was a master at the clarinet...

...and the trombone! I guess he is going to be starting his time in the band and playing the trombone!
