Life Slowly Getting (Kind of) Back to Normal in September 2020

                        First Day of Kindergarten

First day of kindergarten for my youngest was very bittersweet. Covid-19 has made things more and more difficult. I knew that it could be hard but I was honestly excited to finally have some time all to myself. I had dropped both of my older boys off on the first day of kindergarten and I certainly wanted to do this with Marshal as he was the youngest and would be in all day kindergarten unlike his older brothers. I figured that I would take those last few moments to reassure him and calm his nerves but do to Covid and the enforcement of certain policies I was barely able to walk Marshal across the crosswalk before he was collected from me by the principal and quickly taken to class. I stood there dumbfounded and not knowing what to do since I had an IEP for Cort right at the start of school. The day was spent with many tears because of the loss of how I thought that day would go but didn't. At least I was able to have a wonderful second day putting him on the bus and waving good-bye to him. I'm grateful he was able to have a great first day despite the difficult start!

Bear Lake with the Dunne's
Erik and Cheryl invited us to join them for a day on Bear Lake and some pizza. It took a while to get up there because we had soccer games that day but we had a lot of fun. Marshal helped Kent was the windows when we stopped for gas. We took a minute to grab some raspberry shakes and headed to the lake to go kayaking (we've done a lot of kayaking this summer.) Marshal combed the beach with a fallen tree that he found. After we went back to the condo and enjoyed this giant pizza! It was so big it wouldn't fit through the front door. We finished up the night learning how to play the game Secret Hitler. Kent and Jack had a good time!

Fall Leaves 2020 Edition
We decided to take a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was pretty...

...some of the trees seemed to have lost their leaves in a some windstorms
that had come through at hurricane speeds...

...we were a little sad to have missed those.

We did have a good time being together though!

Fall Soccer
Cort and Marshal have really enjoyed playing soccer this fall.

With only allowing two spectators on the sidelines Kent and I have been
grateful to come watch them improve.

Pinewood Derby Mutual Style
For Young Men's and Young Women's we had a Pinewood Derby race. Kent got so excited he decided I needed a car and then Cort wanted to make a car and since Braxton didn't care enough to make a car Marshal made Braxton's car for him. At the end Kent had enough wood remaining from a car that he made a car to race too. Rebekah Blackburn raced the car that Kent made and came in third place. Our other cars came in close after that. My car was the purple car, Kent's was the red, Cort's was green and Marshal's was orange.

Life in September
We finally said good-bye to the pink toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom and got it updated.
We really like how it turned out!

Top Left: I am often baffled wondering why my kids prefer sleeping on the floor. Top Middle: I'm working on doing some curly hair. Top Right: Kent got a new mask from Amazon. Bottom Left: Braxton and I obviously had to try it on.  Bottom Middle:
I'm not so sure everyone liked it when he wore it as his mask at church, but it did make a few people laugh and feel light-hearted so I guess it was worth it. Bottom Right: More of my curly hair attempt...still not so sure.

Top Left: We are so excited for Michaela and Jack who got engaged this month!  Top Left Middle: Lots of Trump fans out there are letting their opinions be known. Top Right Middle: We found a katydid on our screen door. Top Right: I got some reorganizing done in the basement. I love all the space I have for food storage. Bottom Left: Marshal's class learned about butterflies. Bottom Left Middle: Cricket was trying to hide under his food...it didn't really work for him. Center: Macey's Grocery Store has been in the middle of a remodel. I thought it was funy that they got rid of the happy part of "happy shopping." Bottom Right Middle: My kids decided to make a blanket fort. Bottom Right: Dusty found something delicious! ha ha

Top Left: I guess the pandemic is a good reason for forgetting to take out birthday gifts...unless your birthday came before the pandemic. lol Top Left Middle: In case 2020 had't been brutal enough we thought we'd live through an inland hurricane. Why not? Who needs shigles anyway? Thankfully our house was just fine. Top Right Middle: We saw a cool old car. Right Side: This year brought a lot of crazy fires all over the place. With those fires came crazy bad air and a wild sun with red sunrises and sunsets. Bottom Left/Bottom Left Middle/Bottom Right Middle: Doing a little side by side shot of my Great Grandma Clara Elizabeth (Rice) Gibson and her mother Elizabeth Lucina Bectell with the two together in the middle.

Meme's that I found and enjoyed this month.
