My 40th Birthday, Cinderella and more in February 2020

Rogers and Hammerstein's
Cinderella
Braxton was able to participate in the school play again this year and he had a good time. He was a trooper. Despite having a mild case of the flu (and not knowing it) he only missed a few rehearsals and the opening night. He loved being a part of the play and enjoyed having both sets of grandparents able to attend this year!

Valentine's Day
I usually write 14 things I love about my kids for the first 14 days of February but this year I told them they needed to recognize 14 things they love about themselves so we wrote what we love about ourselves. I think they did well! The kids were happy to have our traditional crab & lobster dinner as well!

Happy Surprise 40th Marlies!
I thought it was funny that the computer was telling me it was my birthday "Today all day." Ha ha

It turns out my 40th birthday weekend was pretty great! Kent and I had a gymnastics meet on the 15th and after the meet Kent took me to P.F. Changs with a giftcard we had that needed to be used. I even got into character of my new "older" age after church on Sunday. Kent and the kids had a good laugh! Kent even surprised me with a surprise party on my birthday at the Rojas house! A surprise was exactly what I would have asked for! He did well!

Top Left: Peter and Julia Jones chilling on the couch. Top Middle: Pretty great looking cake right??  Top Right: Aaron barely making it out the door without ducking. Middle: Mom, Devin, Rebekah and Dennis Blackburn and Jeanette Simonsen. Bottom Left: My gluten free cake made by Adrienne Jones. Bottom Middle: Syrina Starr, Adrienne Jones, Ashley & Ozzie Rojas, Dave & Laura Benedict, and Kevin Starr were all there with Porter and Martie who happened to be in the photo. Not pictured were the rest of the Simonsen family. Bottom Right: Cheryl, Mom, Cort Devin and Rebekah Blackburn.

These birthday wishes on Facebook were so nice I decided to screen shot them and keep them for memories!

I also loved the beautiful penmanship Mariel put into the birthday cards she sent us!

STEM night
We enjoyed a fun STEM night at the school. The highlight was watching some of the kids light the lanterns they had left over from a previous activity.

Marshal's Birthday Countdown
Marshal could hardly wait until his birthday. It got so old hearing about it after
Cort had his birthday that we made a countdown chain for him to follow.

When he saw it was the 25th he told me "it's the last day til my birthday!"

Happy Birthday Marshal
I had so many great photos to choose from this year! It's been a fun year to watch him grow!

We got Marshal a cake to celebrate with our family on his actual birthday and that Saturday he enjoyed a Super Mario birthday party with his friends! We enjoyed hide and go seek and other simple games like that.

Life in February
Top Left: Braxton testing out his hairstyle for the play against... Cary Grant's hairstyle (our hair model bottom left) Top & Bottom Right: We got decent enough snow for the school to call a snow day the Monday before the play.

Top Left: Marshal letting us know that we are old now. Top Left Middle: Cort and friends having fun at Jonah's birthday party. Top Right Middle: Marshal currently has an obsession with bandaids. Almost every time I help him clean his room I find at least two or three bandaid wrappers. Top Right: Cort made a home for the little turtle! ha ha
Bottom Left: Marshal found Kent's nerf bullet stash. Bottom Left Middle: Cort is encouraged to sound out words at school and I really appreciated his spelling on his favorite animal the "flowmingo." Bottom Right Middle: Marshal showing off his construction. Bottom Right: His excitement over finding out it was the neighbors birthday.

Top Left: Braxton was home with Influenza B and was starting to feel better. When I told him that the only way I could go to the library was for him to stay and clean the house he was all for it. Top Middle: Lucky me getting to wear a mask at the doctor's office because I likely caught the flu that Braxton had. Top Right: Feeling happy about my dedication to training for a half marathon.
Bottom Left: Enjoying a little family shoot out! Bottom Left Middle: "There, there now. It will be just fine." Bottom Right Middle: More of the family shooting fun. Bottom Right: I was pretty frustrated when I realized that the brace for the track on the garage somehow came off. I was even more impressed when lessons from Kent and the scriptures encouraged me to see if I couldn't fix it well enough to close the garage until Kent got home and I did!

Left: There's nothing like pulling up family search to find out that someone thought your uncle who is alive and well listed him as deceased. Middle: Braxton and I were able to join the youth for a fun activity to the church history musuem. I enjoyed checking out the handi work on the Kirtland temple Top Right: I love seeing the profiles of one of my great grandparents who were also the grandparents of the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. Bottom Right: After a fun trip with the girls to the family history center Autumn showed me this great app that combines your family history into Jeopardy. All you had to do was google Geneopardy and from there it was a blast for me and my kids and Kent!
